Space Station Walking Shoes

Science fiction movies show space colonies in a very similar way to earth. The advanced technology and futuristic look fails in reality because of the gravity. In an actual situation astronauts move around the ship pushing themselves using handrails, handles, and jumping from one place to another. For a long term stationing in space, having a sense of direction is necessary. Can be useful to prevent muscle atrophy and provide an easier work environment.

We have designed a special shoe sole for microgravity walks in a ships surface. These soles consist of a special design based on the human feet pressure points and using permanent magnets to keep the person attached to a ferromagnetic material coated surface. It will allow to walk inside the space station just like on earth. The distribution and position of the magnets over the sole at point that will allow to loose themselves in a normal walking pattern but maintain a strong enough force to keep the person stuck to the surface unless he/she wants to jump loose. This sole will be made attachable to any shoe for test purposes.

If proven to work properly under zero gravity or even some degree of inverted gravity this shoes can also be adapted to be used as a safety measurement by aircraft service personnel to prevent accidents from sudden drops or turns.
